使用手機最怕不小心掉到地下，輕者皮破或變型、重者螢幕破掉，為了改善這些問題，Apple研發出一個技術，偵測與改變裝置掉落的方向或角度，再利用裝置上的陀螺儀及加速度等感測器將裝置的所在位置、行進速度、掉落方向等訊息傳送到處理器，計算出裝置掉落的高度、速度、可能的撞擊力等，驅動偏於一側的馬達來改變掉落中裝置的重心，進而讓裝置的機身沿軸線旋轉，安全著陸。
