由Microsoft所申請的專利可以發現：Microsoft的windows作業系統可能在不久的將來會有戲劇性的改變。
Micrsoft曾經在視窗作業系統上落後Apple，這一次看來他可以報仇了，從他獲准的專利上看來，windows已經進化成一個虛擬實境的room，使用者打開房門，同時可走入room前後左右移動，同時視角似乎也能跟著改變，有興趣的讀者可以參見US7921376號專利。
